At Marlboro Park Hospital, we offer behavioral health services designed to treat emotional and psychiatric conditions. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment to enable individuals to learn how to cope with the problems and pressures they face.
Mental conditions sometimes develop later in life, when our minds may begin to function differently or at limited capacity. Whether it's confusion or memory loss, changes can be sudden and often take a toll on patients and the loved ones that surround them. Marlboro Park Hospital provides psychiatric services that focus on helping older patients and their families adjust to the emotional changes that occur with age.
Our senior mental health program is conducted in a dedicated inpatient hospital unit. This comprehensive, psychiatrist-supervised program serves adults 55 and older who suffer from emotional problems. Treatment addresses the psychiatric, medical and social aspects of these health problems and features personalized attention and physician-directed care.
Our treatment team is led by a psychiatrist and trained professionals such as psychiatric nurses, social workers, physical therapists, dieticians and psychiatric technicians. The program is designed to provide support and education for family members and encourage them to become a part of the patient's treatment process.
Issues that may indicate a need for referral to our senior mental health program include:
Individualized treatment plans are designed to meet each patient's specific needs. Our goal is to help the patient resume life's normal activities as soon as possible. To assist with this process, each patient is evaluated and a treatment plan is developed, specific to that patient's needs. Individual, group, family, social and recreational therapy are all part of the treatment plan.
An integrated, personalized, intensive treatment plan includes:
To determine the need for outpatient or acute hospitalization, we screen for the following conditions or issues:
We also perform medical review/management for psychiatric symptoms or crisis intervention.
Marlboro Park Hospital's Senior Mental Health Unit will accept a patient referral from an individual or family member, probate judge, physician, caregiver, hospital, nursing home, community agency, clergy, retirement center, case manager or the police.
The cost of treatment is covered in whole or part by most health plans, including Medicare and Medicaid in both North and South Carolina.
