Small Surgical incision may be a better option for you!
Marlboro Park Hospital is able to achieve many of the advanced surgical procedures performed at large metropolitan hospitals. Many people of Marlboro County do not know that Marlboro Park Hospital can perform specialized surgeries. Knee Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique that allows orthopedic surgeons to gain additional knowledge that would be used to treat a range of conditions affecting the knee joint. For this procedure the surgeon makes a small incision in the affected knee, and inserts a tiny camera and a light into the interior space. Pictures obtained with the camera are projected onto a monitor or TV screen in the operating suite. This allows the surgeon the ability to gain multiple views inside the knee, gaining access to areas that previously would have required an arthrotomy (a surgery in which a larger open incision would be made).
Reconstruction of the ACL (anterior curciate ligament), a ligament that helps stabilize and support the knee, is among the most commonly performed arthroscopic surgeries, and Marlboro Park Hospital has the capability to perform this procedure. Rehabilitation usually takes between 6 to 8 months and physical therapy needs can be performed right here at the hospital reducing the time patients have to spend traveling and waiting at other facilities.
Another surgery many people may not know about that can be performed at MPH is Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (removal of the gall bladder) which is performed by Dr. Chen. He will remove your gallbladder with the aid of a laparoscope (a small camera inserted into the abdomen) and other surgical tools through four small incisions. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the most common way to remove the gallbladder today and we are fortunate to have such a skilled surgeon here at MPH.
