Go Red For Women

Marlboro Park Hospital encourages the community to Go Red

Employees at Marlboro Park Hospital are joining thousands of individuals, companies and organization across the nation and wearing something red on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 6, 2009. By wearing red and/or making a donation to the American Heart Association, you’ll help the American Heart Association support ongoing research and education about women and heart disease and increase awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women (and men).

National Wear Red Day has its own dress code. Wear your favorite red clothes or accessory – a red blouse, a red dress pin, a fabulous red handbag. Put on red lipstick or sport a red tie and red socks. Go red in your own fashion to show your support for women and the fight against heart disease.

“At Marlboro Park Hospital more than 230 employees will be asked to participate in the campaign because for many of them heart disease is personal,” says Christi Meggs, Director of Human Resources, Marketing and Physician Recruitment. “National Wear Red Day is an opportunity for everyone to remember their female friends and family members who have suffered from the disease. It’s also time to think about their own hearts and take charge of their own health.”

Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women (and men), but the good news if heart disease can often be prevented. Spreading the Go Red for Women message “Our Hearts. Our Choice.” raises awareness of heart disease and empowers women to reduce their risk.

“We are committed to supporting organizations and program that interest our employees. Since heart disease affects so many of our employees’ personal lives as well as professional lives, National Wear Red Day is a perfect fit,” says Meggs.

Marlboro Park Hospital asks all individuals and companies in the communities they serve to join them on Friday, February 6, 2009 and WEAR RED. For more information on how you and/or your business can Go Red, contact Christi Meggs, Director of Human Resources, Marketing and Physician Recruitment at (843) 454-8404.
